Leaving Sun/Oracle
I had a great 2-and-a-half year journey with Sun, but my time there is sadly at an end. I was very fortunate to have worked with some very, very smart people. We’ll certainly keep in touch.
I worked on some really cool internal (and therefore not shareable) projects in Java, Jython, and Web languages and platforms. They were generally fun, diverse and challenging.
On to Return Path!
I’ll now be joining a small, agile team at Return Path. We will make email safer, and (I hope) win the war over spam. Audacious yes. Impossible… I think not.
I wish all my Sun/Oracle counterparts well. Good luck!
Congratulations and good luck Eric! You’re going to do great!
Congrats eric!
Congrats, and good luck. I hope to see you at JavaOne in the future.
Eric, good luck for the new job.
You’re going to be an asset wherever you go, because you are so awesome!!! Love you, brother.
All the best Eric!
Congratulations Eric! Return Path is lucky to have you.
Thank you all for your kind words :)
It’s sad to hear you’re leaving Sun, but there’s really no argument against terminating spam with extreme prejudice. Good luck at the new job man
But if you rid the world of spam, that means I’ll miss all the advance fee scam emails! Then what would I do for entertainment?
Seriously, good luck!
Good luck, Eric.
Your new job should be interesting.
Eric, I happened upon your blog from my own site (you’d left a comment) and when I saw this, yet another “Exiting Oracle/Sun” statement,I just had to ask you – as an ex insider – what do you think are Oracle’s intentions re Java and related technologies? You seem like a good person to ask, seeing as I have this tenuous ‘virtual’ link with you ;-) Cheers Alex
Alex, it’d probably be foolish of me to provide my rant-like answer in public, but I will follow up with you via email ;)
indeed the only sensible response. Burning bridges like burning bra’s, inevitably left with no support…
